New Director of Culture Transformation Announced

The Office of Culture, Ethics and Compliance has announced Patrick Cates as USC’s new Director of Culture Transformation. Patrick currently serves as the Chief of Staff at the Marshall School of Business and is a member of the school’s senior management team.

As an active member of the Working Group on University Culture and through his work at Marshall, many of us have had the pleasure to see firsthand the passion Patrick brings to his endeavors. He’s intimately familiar with the Culture Journey landscape and has been instrumental in driving initiatives that shape the culture for our Trojan community.

Patrick brings to his new role a great deal of energy and knowledge. Later this summer, he will complete his doctoral degree from Rossier’s Organizational Change and Leadership program, where his research and dissertation focus on “Increasing Workplace Civility in Higher Education.”

On a personal note, Patrick lives in Pasadena with his wife, Jen, and soon-to-be 10-year-old daughter, Minerva. He enjoys British comedy and drama, cryptic crossword puzzles and running.

This is an exciting new addition for the Culture Team and will greatly benefit the Culture Journey.  Staff Assembly looks forward to collaborating with Patrick and the Culture team.
