
Phil Turner

Associate Director, USC Auxiliary Services, Housing
Phil Turner (he/him) has been with university for over 16 years and is currently the Associate Director of Safety and Security for USC Auxiliary Services, Housing. He manages various systems used across the Department and is responsible for the contracted secondary security personnel in USC Housing locations. Prior to USC Housing, Phil worked as a Food Service Manager in USC Hospitality and managed various food service locations across UPC and on the Heath Sciences Campus. He has also held positions as the Hospitality Systems Manager and Senior Manager of Compliance and Quality Assurance.
Phil previously served a four year term on Staff Assembly from 2019-2023. He served two years as the Rules and Elections Chair, modernizing the roster and files, and helped the Assembly transition to conduct business remotely during the pandemic. He served the next two years as Parliamentarian, leading the Assembly’s “Ad-hoc Re-org Committee”, and was pivotal in the election and onboarding of the inaugural cohort of Senators in 2023. Phil re-joined the Assembly in 2024 and served as Secretary, working to modernize the process of capturing minutes for the Executive Committee and General Assembly meetings using Zoom and its AI Companion tools.
Phil is a dedicated Trojan staff member, a self-professed “data geek and systems guy”, and enjoys supporting and teaching staff who utilize the various systems, technology, and software at USC. He is the volunteer head coach for the intramural USC Women’s Ice Hockey team, and enjoys collecting USC memorabilia and documents from previous generations of Trojans in his family.
